Apple’s public power interfaces can stop idle sleep while the lid is open. They do not prevent forced sleep. Closing a laptop lid is forced sleep.

On a supported Mac, NIAC can hold the Mac awake for Stay Awake, a timer, or a managed process while the lid is open. The display may still sleep.

Travel Guard, the closed lid product, is locked. Gate 0 has not passed. Do not put a high load Mac in a bag and expect it to keep running.

The Mac app runs a local compatibility check on first use: whether an assertion is accepted, whether battery and thermal state can be read, and whether lid state is readable. That check is on the Mac, not this page.

Phone Tether needs Bluetooth and a paired iPhone. It is off unless you turn it on. Remote account watch requires the same NIAC sign in on both devices, a previously confirmed pairing and a reachable NIAC relay. The production relay is not live.

NIAC does not replace Find My, FileVault or the Mac login password.
